How Many Shows!?
This is our biggest (and dare we say best) programme to date!
Spanning more than 4 months, and upwards of 15 genres at a push (who knew there were that many!?), it’s very long and might give your fingers and eyes ‘scroll fatigue’ (this sounds like a technical term, but we just made it up…) so don’t forget to stretch!
We’re constantly looking to innovate and bring you shows that are like nothing you’ve ever seen before. That’s why this programme has such a mix of genres, some of the shows blur the lines between dusty old genre categories, some which blow those boundaries up, and some that are so innovative that they’ve had to go and invent their own!
Our cover stars are the fantastic 1927, who are returning to us in December and January with THE ANIMALS AND CHILDREN TOOK TO THE STREETS. If you saw Golem when it was here, you know how good they are. If you didn’t, you need to see to believe!
Music is the beating heart of TOM and this season, not only do we have our usual splendour of music gigs on offer but we are super excited to present a programme of gig-theatre shows you’re going to love. What’s Gig-Theatre you ask? It’s as it says: part-gig, part- theatre, all-extraordinary.
The genre-bending BEN CAPLAN stars in OLD STOCK: A REFUGEE LOVE STORY. He has a soulful and raspy voice, which reminds us of Tom Waits. Combine this with shades of Once, The Musical and throw in an unbelievably powerful storyline and the result is a raw, witty treasure but also a poignant allegory for the refugee crisis of today.
Award-winning musician and theatre maker DOM COYOTE presents his new sci-fi infused show WE CAN TIME TRAVEL, and Paines Plough invite you on a journey through thirty years of dance-floor classics in POP MUSIC.
If you’re aged 16-25, then we’ve got just the ticket for you. Our new 1625 SCHEME gets you in to see the shows you love for just £5 each! Keep an eye out for the 1625 symbol in the brochure, or check out our website for our full listings.
Plus, there’s the purr-fect treat for the family in the form of TABBY McTAT, comedy from Irish funny-man JASON BYRNE, an Agnes Varda Double Bill courtesy of TOM’S FILM CLUB and the welcome return of Ru Paul’s Drag Race favourite JINKX MONSOON with MAJOR SCALES in their brand new show THE GINGER SNAPPED.
With so many shows to explore, there’s bound to be loads that you’ll love. Until the next time…
