Bright, Bold and Beautiful…
Don’t put away your Winter coat just yet, because it’s Reigning Women (Hallelujah!) at TOM this SPRING.
We’re celebrating International Women’s Day (8 March) this season with a series of female-fronted shows, including HYENA, a synchronised display of sisterhood by the first all-female Cyr troupe (Cyr, pronounced ‘see-er’, the giant wheels used in gymnastics and acrobatics), and a screening of coming-of-age drama, GIRLHOOD. We also get a frank and entertaining take on ageing in the comedy that won ‘Best of Brighton Fringe’ last year, ENTER THE DRAGONS.
We can’t forget to big-up the Men either, as RICHARD HERRING continues to lift the lid on ageing in his half century milepost, ‘Oh Frig, I’m 50!’ and long-time funny man GRIFF RHYS JONES reminisces on forty years in television.
With the 20th anniversary of it’s theatrical release imminent, we’ll be donning our dressing gowns and bowing down to ‘the Dude’ (“That or, uh His Dudeness, or uh Duder, or El Duderino, if you’re not into the whole brevity thing”) with a screening of THE BIG LEBOWSKI, and throwing a massive BIG LEBOWSKI PARTY in collaboration with The Brighton Film Society. There’ll be prizes for the best outfits!
Giving us an insight into life on both sides of the gender fence, the critically acclaimed, sell-out at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe, TESTOSTERONE, presents an honest and hilarious take on the minefield of modern masculinity.
