From a fizzling Shakespeare adaptation to an immersive Oculus Rift performance, there’s loads in creation here at The Old Market this Summer. We’re opening our doors to numerous companies, artists and performers, providing them with space to develop new work.
You’ll be able to see exclusive previews at various stages, or book now to see final performances in our Autumn Season. Here’s a summary of what’s going on:

Toilers of the Sea
LIVE PREVIEW: Friday 26 June [Just £5]
Inspired by traditional folk music from the British Isles, Toilers of the Sea is a new original musical based on the epic novel by Victor Hugo. The showing will be a staged read/sing-through of the show, a culmination of a development workshop hosted by The Old Market.
Romeo & Juliet
IN DEVELOPMENT: This Summer
SEE IT: 23-24 September [Now Booking]
In August 2013, New Mutiny stormed Edinburgh Fringe with this explosive one hour production. The Times called it a “fizzling adaptation… Shakespeare for the OMG generation? Yes, yes, a thousand times yes, when it is as good as this,” awarding it a highly-coveted ★★★★★’s!
This Summer New Mutiny are spending some time with us to develop Romeo & Juliet further and prepare the show for touring. It’s a truly magical introduction to Shakespeare for children, schools, and families, ideal for ages 5-12. Book Now, and stay tuned for updates too.

We can’t wait to share it with you this September, as part of our Brighton Digital Festival line-up.
Here’s a taster:
The work is funded by Arts Council England and LDD Research Group with additional support from Cambridge Junction.
